The heated rear window (HRW) is operated by a latching switch mounted on the dash panel. When the switch is set to the ’On’ position, the instrument panel warning lamp will illuminate to indicate the HRW is operating. The HRW only operates when the ignition switch is turned to position ’II’.
Operation
Feed from the battery positive terminal is connected to fusible link 1 and fusible link 5 of the engine compartment fuse box (C0632-1) by a brown wire. Fusible link 1 is connected in series with fuse 3 of the engine compartment fuse box, which supplies a feed (C0572-1) to the HRW relay (C0044-8) on a brown/purple wire.
Fusible link 5 (C0570-2) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028-1) by a brown/white wire. When the ignition switch is turned to position ’II’, current flows across the switch (C0094-1) to fuse 7 of the passenger compartment fuse box (C0580-9) on a white wire. Fuse 7 (C0580-14) then supplies a feed to the HRW switch (C0381-2) on a white/green wire. When the switch is depressed, current is allowed to flow across the switch (C0381-4) and energise the HRW relay (C0044-4) on a white green wire. The relay (C0044-6) is earthed on a black wire.
The energised HRW relay (C0044-2) now allows current to flow to both the HRW (C0382-1) and the instrument pack warning lamp (C0233-8) on white/black wires. The instrument pack (C0230-8) is earthed on a black wire.
